The Value of a Septic Tank Inspection

When purchasing your dream home in Atlanta this spring, a septic tank might be the last thing on your mind. However, after you’re sure this new home has checked all your boxes, it’s important to understand your septic system before you buy. Your septic tank will not only require an inspection before you sign your closing papers, but will also require regular checks going forward. Phil and the entire team at ProTech Home & Property Inspections, Inc. wants you to have all the information before you complete your home purchase.

Septic Tank Inspection

What Will the Inspection Tell Me?

Our septic-tank inspection is a visual assessment of the system’s functionality (versus an invasive septic inspection). We take 500 gallons of water and run it through your tank. This inspection will:

    • Make sure your system is running smoothly: Neglected septic systems are prone to leaks, blockages, backups, overgrowth of bad bacteria, and other problems. Inspections also help to prolong the life and improve the performance of your septic tank by indicating when it’s time to clean, repair, or chemically balance the tank.
    • Reveal when the tank needs to be pumped: Septic tank pumping is usually required every three to five years, depending on when the tank reaches capacity. If an overflow occurs, wastewater will pool above the septic tank and run toward nearby sources of clean water. An overflow can also back up into your home, costing thousands of dollars to repair.
    • Preserve the value of your home: If you ever decide to move again and want to sell your home, potential buyers will likely request proof of routine septic system inspections. Therefore, it’s important to get it inspected before you move in, and then periodically going forward.

How Do I Schedule a Septic-Tank Inspection?
